Clear overhead with good moonlight, with mild air moving in from the NW with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lac a la Meule is points where shallow meets deep. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac a la Meule in the Capitale-Nationale part of Quebec. The bank is 272 metres above sea level. With some 13 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Around 1.9 km of margin, front to back. Laurentides sits 22 km from here and is the nearest stop. Saint-Raymond follows at 24 km, then Saint-Ubalde at 26 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Species logged across Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac a la Meule gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -14°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. From about late April to around late November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. On Lac a la Meule the same rules apply, with local timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Fishing from a pier is possible 280 m away. Walleye come to jigs worked slow near bottom, and to trolled crankbaits along the drops at dusk. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. For a change of water, Petit lac a la Meule is 0.8 km distant. Confirm access to Lac a la Meule locally before you travel.
