Wind working the surface all day, with a stiffish breeze from the S and the barometer holding steady. On Turner Lake, work the seam between weed and open water first. Plan around the stretch from night into morning. Keep moving until you find them. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Out in Grey County, Ontario, sits Turner Lake. Elevation runs to 472 metres. This is a pocket water of some 8 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Ontario listings. 14 km away sits Dundalk, the nearest town. Markdale follows at 15 km, then Mount Forest at 28 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Grey County, recorded fish include Chinook salmon, rainbow trout and brook trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Turner Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -9°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around mid April. Climate averages put the opening at about mid April and the closing near early December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. At Turner Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Gillies Lake, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for Turner Lake.
