Wind pushing hard across the water today, with a persistent wind from the S and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Moss Lake along shallow cover and weed edges. Expect the better fishing from night into morning. Give the likely spots time before moving. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Moss Lake sits in Grey County, out in Ontario. The surface lies 472 metres up. Small at around 2 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Grey County list. For a base, Markdale sits 14 km out. The big place round here is Guelph, 78 km distant. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Grey County include Chinook salmon, rainbow trout and brook trout. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Take Moss Lake a stretch at a time.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -9°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Winter locks it down, and mid April brings it back. Ice clears near mid April and comes back about early December in a typical year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Moss Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is MacCuaig Lake, 2.5 km out. Treat access at Moss Lake as something to verify.
