Not a cloud worth mentioning today, with a gentle ripple from the WNW and pressure going nowhere. The fish at Tea Lake are likely to sit near sheltered bays and points. If you pick one session, make it the middle of the day. Settle in and let the day develop. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

The Algoma entry here is Tea Lake, in Ontario. Elevation runs to 253 metres. Around 12 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. With about 3.0 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. On size it sits at the modest end of our Algoma list. Thessalon is the closest place, 13 km off. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 193 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Algoma records list walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter, yellow perch and white sucker among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Tea Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The year swings from about -11°C in January to roughly 18°C in July. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. On Tea Lake that shapes the whole year.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Failing this one, try Rainbow Lake, 0.9 km away. What applies at Tea Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
