Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a persistent wind from the WSW and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Tatai Lake should hold close to shallow cover and weed edges. One clear peak today: the evening. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Tatai Lake in Parry Sound District, Ontario. The surface lies 221 metres up. It covers about 6 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Parry Sound District. The nearest place of any size is Parry Sound, 10 km away. Huntsville lies 54 km off, Bracebridge another 57 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Parry Sound District, recorded fish include smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch and northern pike. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Tatai Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
The seasonal spread runs -10°C to 19°C. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid April. Break-up sits around mid April on average, with the water closing again about early December. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. On Tatai Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Capton Lake sits 1.6 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Tatai Lake for certain.
