A closed sky with even light today, with a firm WSW blow and steady pressure. Whatever swims in Stata Lake should be near the first drop-off and weed lines. If you pick one session, make it the evening. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Parry Sound District in Ontario is where Stata Lake sits. It sits in pine and birch country. Small at around 4 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. It is a small entry by Parry Sound District standards. Parry Sound lies 13 km from the water. Huntsville follows at 51 km, then Bracebridge at 54 km. Water in the same corner: Pender Lake 0.6 km, Yarrow Lake about 0.9 km, Lioness Lake 0.9 km, McGee Lake about 1.4 km and Brennan Lake 1.6 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Fish documented in Parry Sound District include smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Work Stata Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Expect July near 19°C and January near -10°C on the long-run figures. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid April. From about mid April to around early December, expect open water on the long-run figures. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Stata Lake rarely departs from it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Horseshoe Lake Conservation Reserve covers ground next to the water; its rules will apply on that side. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Pender Lake sits 0.6 km off and takes the overflow. For Stata Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
