Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Pog Lake will be around bays that hold the day's warmth. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Pog Lake is one of the Nipissing District listings for Ontario. Elevation runs to 392 metres. At about 29 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Around 3.6 km of margin, front to back. Nearest place of any size is United Townships of Dysart, Dudley, Harcourt, Guilford, Harburn, Bruton, Havelock, Eyre and Clyde, 42 km away. The big place round here is Barrie, 161 km distant. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name smallmouth bass, cisco and yellow perch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Pog Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -12°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Pog Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Lake of Two Rivers Access #A42 gives a made launch, 700 m off. Expect a 670 m walk in from where the car goes. There is a campsite 280 m from the water. Mapping shows a picnic spot within 820 m. A toilet block sits 180 m away. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Failing this one, try Kearney Lake, 1.5 km away. Check the current arrangement for Pog Lake.
