Glare on the water under a clear sky, with a decent NW wind working the banks and steady pressure. Most of the action on Pear Lake should come off the calm side of the wind. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Pear Lake sits within Algoma in Ontario. It sits at 312 metres above sea level. Around 12 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The whole outline is near 2.6 km, and most of it is walkable. On size it sits at the modest end of our Algoma list. For a base, Elliot Lake sits 18 km out. Blind River is 19 km away, with Thessalon at 55 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Public occurrence data for Algoma names walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. On Pear Lake that means starting tight and working out.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -11°C. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly early December. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Pear Lake.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Pistol Lake at 1.9 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Pear Lake are worth checking on the day.
