A closed sky with even light today, with an easy breeze from the S and the barometer holding steady. Activity on Little Duck Lake should centre on windblown banks where food collects. If you pick one session, make it the evening. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Look for Little Duck Lake in the Algoma part of Ontario. Height above sea level is 263 metres. With some 11 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Shoreline comes to about 2.1 km, small enough to learn in a day. Our Algoma list holds plenty of bigger water. Blind River lies 13 km from the water. It is 149 km to Greater Sudbury, the nearest city. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter, yellow perch and white sucker. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Read Little Duck Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Typical July readings run about 19°C; by January the average is down near -11°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about mid April until roughly early December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. The season on Little Duck Lake follows the weather closely.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Loon Lake, 0.8 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing here settles the position at Little Duck Lake for certain.
