Clear conditions and high sun today, with just enough W wind to ripple the surface and pressure sitting still. The productive water at Neumann Lake will be around the calm side of the wind. Block out the hours from afternoon into evening. Slow down and let the fish find the bait. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Neumann Lake lies in Sudbury, in Ontario. It sits at 321 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 12 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. There is roughly 1.9 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. It is a small entry by Sudbury standards. Head to Espanola, 24 km away, for anything you forgot. Little Current lies 45 km off, Elliot Lake another 47 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Sudbury, recorded fish include smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch and Iowa darter. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Anyone new to Neumann Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -12°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Anyone fishing Neumann Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Kitts Lake at 1.3 km is the sensible second choice. For Neumann Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
