A closed sky with even light today, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Lavery Lake around points where shallow meets deep. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

You will find Lavery Lake in Timiskaming District, Ontario. Spruce and muskeg runs right down to the water. This is a pocket water of some 2 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Timiskaming District list. Start from Kirkland Lake, 23 km down the road. The nearest city of size is Greater Sudbury, 220 km away. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Fish documented in Timiskaming District include brook trout, northern pike and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. The near bank of Lavery Lake is often the one people ignore.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -17°C in January. Cold dominates the calendar on water this far north. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Lavery Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Esker Lakes Provincial Park takes in this water; protected-area rules will apply. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Grover Lake, 0.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Ask locally about Lavery Lake if anything is unclear.
