Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a light chop building from the WNW and pressure sitting still. On Larry Lake, work the calm side of the wind first. Not a day the forecast likes; the night keeps a flicker of interest. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Thunder Bay District, Larry Lake is an Ontario water. It sits at 247 metres above sea level. It measures some 1.11 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. With 5.4 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. Terrace Bay sits 27 km from here and is the nearest stop. After that come Schreiber at 35 km and Manitouwadge at 75 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Thunder Bay District: cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt, bloater and shortjaw cisco. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Read Larry Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -16°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Larry Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. One rod, a handful of hooks and floats, and a few small lures are enough for this water. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Foxtrap Lake, 9.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Larry Lake before loading the car.
