Scattered cloud taking the edge off the glare, with a gentle ripple from the WNW with a settled glass. On Box Lake, work reed fringes and open pockets first. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Thunder Bay District entry here is Box Lake, in Ontario. What surrounds it is northern bush. Surface area is around 12 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Roughly 2.5 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. It is a small entry by Thunder Bay District standards. Start from Terrace Bay, 15 km down the road. Schreiber is 25 km away, with Manitouwadge at 85 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Thunder Bay District, recorded fish include cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt, bloater and shortjaw cisco. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The shape of Box Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
On the long-term average, July reads 16°C and January reads -16°C. The ice season is long here and the open one short. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. The season on Box Lake rarely departs from it.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Fishnet Lake is 1 km distant. None of that is settled for Box Lake in what we hold.
