No direct sun expected today, with a steady NW wind with the glass holding level. Gadsby Lake should fish best around inflow corners and shaded margins today. The evening carries the best of the day. Change depth before you change anything else. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Gadsby Lake in Thunder Bay District, Ontario. Land around it is spruce and muskeg. At about 31 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 2.6 km, and most of it is walkable. Nipigon at 39 km is the nearest place to stop. Thunder Bay is the closest city, 117 km away. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name cisco, blackfin cisco and rainbow smelt. The county list is broader than any single water. On Gadsby Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The seasonal spread runs -18°C to 17°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. On Gadsby Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. One rod, a handful of hooks and floats, and a few small lures are enough for this water. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. The nearest alternative is Metivier Lake, 1.1 km out. Treat access at Gadsby Lake as something to verify.
