A blustery day over the water, with a busy NW wind on the open water and pressure sitting still. On Frazer Lake, work any hard bottom among the soft first. A hard day on paper; the evening edges the rest. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish documented in Thunder Bay District include cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt and bloater. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Frazer Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
The seasonal spread runs -18°C to 17°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Look for the thaw near early May; the fishing lifts straight after. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Time your trip to Frazer Lake by conditions rather than dates.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Should this one be busy, Bernice Lake is 3.8 km off.
