Scattered cloud dimming the moonlight, with a stiffish breeze from the WSW and the barometer holding steady. Expect most activity at Fairy Lake around the first drop-off and weed lines. The evening should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones.

Fairy Lake is one of the Halton listings for Ontario. Height above sea level is 344 metres. With some 27 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. With about 4.4 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. Acton at 0.8 km is the nearest place to stop. Rockwood is 7.8 km and Halton Hills 9.6 km. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Public occurrence data for Halton names pumpkinseed, white sucker, rainbow trout and brook trout. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Fairy Lake a short move beats a long cast.
Expect July to average close to 20°C, with January the cold end at about -8°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near mid April. In an average year the thaw lands around mid April and the freeze near mid December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Fairy Lake.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public data has parking about 230 m from the shore. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Scotch Block Reservoir, 10 km away. Rules at Fairy Lake are worth checking on the day.
