Soft grey light all day today, with a steady WSW wind and pressure going nowhere. On Crawford Lake, work windblown banks where food collects first. Block out the hours from afternoon into evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Crawford Lake is one of the Halton listings for Ontario. Elevation runs to 283 metres. About 2 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. On size it sits at the modest end of our Halton list. For a base, Milton sits 7.6 km out. Further out sit Burlington (13 km) and Waterdown (16 km). Two sets of local rules meet not far from this water.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Open biodiversity records for Halton list pumpkinseed, white sucker and rainbow trout. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Crawford Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
The seasonal spread runs -7°C to 20°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Once it clears, about early April, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice usually gives way near early April, and forms again about mid December. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. On Crawford Lake that shapes the whole year.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Parking is close: a car park sits 300 m from the bank. There are toilets mapped about 280 m away. Crawford Lake Conservation Area covers ground next to the water; its rules will apply on that side. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Campbellville Pond sits 3.3 km off and takes the overflow. The position on Crawford Lake is worth confirming on the day.
