Flat light and a covered sky today, with steady pressure of wind from the WSW with a settled glass. Most of the action on McClures Lake should come off the shaded margin through bright spells. The strongest window runs from afternoon into evening. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

McClures Lake lies in Halton, in Ontario. Height above sea level is 270 metres. A pocket of water where every cast reaches cover. On size it sits at the modest end of our Halton list. Milton is the closest town at 11 km. Burlington lies 12 km off, Waterdown another 13 km. A county boundary sits nearby, which can matter for local access rules.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Halton records list pumpkinseed, white sucker, rainbow trout, brook trout and johnny darter among the fish reported. The county list is broader than any single water. On McClures Lake that means starting tight and working out.
The warm month here averages 20°C; the cold one sits at -7°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early April. Ice clears near early April and comes back about mid December in a typical year. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. Plan around that when you fish McClures Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Crawford Lake is 3.8 km off. None of that is settled for McClures Lake in what we hold.
