Rain on and off through the day, with a faint NW drift with a settled glass. Fish at Emily Lake should hold close to the seam between weed and open water. A slow day overall; the night is the best of a quiet lot. Scale down and fish slowly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Emily Lake sits in Algoma, out in Ontario. This is northern bush ground. It covers about 7 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. Our Algoma list holds plenty of bigger water. Supplies mean a trip to Wawa, 34 km off. It is 330 km to Greater Sudbury, the nearest city. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Algoma include walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Emily Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Average temperatures cross freezing around early May in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. The season on Emily Lake follows the weather closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. If the gate is shut, Dipneedle Lake at 1 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Emily Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
