Clear overhead with good moonlight, with flat calm through the day and the barometer holding steady. On Deschamp Lake, work any hard bottom among the soft first. The productive run goes afternoon into evening. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Deschamp Lake is an Algoma water, Ontario side. It lies 417 metres above sea level. At about 96 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Around 9.4 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. On our Algoma list it sits near the top for size. Supplies mean a trip to Elliot Lake, 26 km off. Beyond it, Blind River at 60 km and Espanola at 62 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Open biodiversity records for Algoma list walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. On Deschamp Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -12°C on the long-run figures. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. On Deschamp Lake that shapes the whole year.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Harold Lake, 1.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Deschamp Lake before loading the car.
