Cloud coming and going through the night, with calm air over the water and the barometer holding steady. On Arrowhead Lake, work reed fringes and open pockets first. The best of it runs afternoon into evening. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Arrowhead Lake is one of the Algoma waters in Ontario. The setting is rolling bush. Around 72 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge covers about 11 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. Start from Elliot Lake, 21 km down the road. Blind River is 54 km away, with Espanola at 58 km. Nearby alternatives: Alto Lake (2 km), 2.4 km out stands Pilon Lake, Wiggly Lake (3.2 km), 3.4 km out stands Nook Lake and Trap Lake (4.3 km). No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Algoma: walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter, yellow perch and white sucker. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Arrowhead Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
On the long-term average, July reads 18°C and January reads -12°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. On Arrowhead Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Alto Lake sits 2 km off and takes the overflow. Treat Arrowhead Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
