Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a proper ripple driven from the WSW and no real change in pressure. The productive water at De Volve Lake will be around windblown banks where food collects. The strongest window is the evening. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

De Volve Lake lies within the bounds of Parry Sound District, Ontario. It stands 247 metres above sea level. At about 21 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The edge covers about 5.1 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. Parry Sound lies 24 km from the water. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 127 km away. No border sits close enough to matter.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed and yellow perch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Fish De Volve Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
The seasonal spread runs -10°C to 19°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near mid April. The open-water window runs from around mid April to about early December in an average year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. De Volve Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. Boyd Lake at 3 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position on De Volve Lake before loading the car.
