Hard light and clear air over the water, with a proper ripple driven from the W and pressure going nowhere. Give the seam between weed and open water the first hour at Bukadawin Lake. Quiet conditions all day, with the evening marginally better. Scale down and fish slowly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Bukadawin Lake sits in Nipissing District, out in Ontario. The surface lies 402 metres up. Surface area is around 16 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 2.8 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The closest town, Mattawa, is 47 km distant. Further out sit Deep River (58 km) and Chalk River (62 km). No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Nipissing District records list smallmouth bass, cisco and yellow perch among the fish reported. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Bukadawin Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The range across the year is -13°C to 18°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Bukadawin Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is camping recorded roughly 1.3 km off. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Gum Lake, 1.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Bukadawin Lake locally before you travel.
