Heavy overcast holding through the day, with air barely moving with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Beanpole Lake should be near the shaded margin through bright spells. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Beanpole Lake is a Haliburton County water, Ontario side. It sits at 450 metres above sea level. At about 21 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The whole outline is near 3.4 km, and most of it is walkable. Compared with other Ontario water on our list, it sits high. Then Haliburton Village, 26 km, and Bancroft, 48 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Haliburton County include smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, rock bass and yellow perch. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Treat Beanpole Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Expect July to average close to 18°C, with January the cold end at about -12°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Beanpole Lake runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Roundo Lake at 2.2 km is the nearest alternative. Ask locally about Beanpole Lake if anything is unclear.
