Rain moving through today, with just enough ENE wind to ripple the surface with the barometer flat. The productive water at Trout Lake will be around any hard bottom among the soft. The numbers single out the evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Trout Lake is a Kings County water, New Brunswick side. Salt water lies 16 km off. About 4 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. It sits higher than most water we list in New Brunswick. Grand Bay-Westfield is the closest town at 13 km. The big place round here is Dartmouth, 229 km distant. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Kings County, recorded fish include alewife, Atlantic salmon, yellow perch and brook trout. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. The near bank of Trout Lake is often the one people ignore.
Long-term averages put July at about 18°C and January near -9°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Once it clears, about mid April, the fishing comes on quickly. From about mid April to around early December, expect open water on the long-run figures. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Trout Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Should this one be busy, Island Lake is 0.6 km off. Confirm access to Trout Lake locally before you travel.
