A closed sky with even light today, with a useful S wind pushing food about and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Squeah Lake should come off the calm side of the wind. Save your energy for the evening. Change depth before you change anything else. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Open biodiversity records for Fraser Valley Regional District list white sturgeon, sockeye salmon, Coho salmon, Chum salmon and Chinook salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. On Squeah Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Temperature averages peak at 16°C in August and bottom out at -3°C in January. Most months fish reasonably, given the right weather. It should never be assumed safe, whatever the month says. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. On Squeah Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Mapping shows a jetty some 60 m off. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Failing this one, try Klahater Lake, 2.9 km away.
