Soft grey light all day today, with a gentle ripple from the SW and pressure sitting still. Schkam Lake should fish best around the first drop-off and weed lines today. The evening is where the day comes good. Change depth before you change anything else. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Night
Schkam Lake is a Fraser Valley Regional District water, British Columbia side. The water sits 175 metres up. It measures about 17 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The edge runs 1.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Head to Hope, 3.1 km away, for anything you forgot. Beyond it, Harrison Hot Springs at 28 km and Agassiz at 31 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Fraser Valley Regional District include white sturgeon, sockeye salmon and Coho salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. The near bank of Schkam Lake is often the one people ignore.
Climate normals give 18°C for August and -1°C for January. Seasons here are moderate, and the fishing runs most of the year. Cover comes and goes, so treat it with suspicion rather than trust. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. The season on Schkam Lake rarely departs from it.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. The closest car park is 820 m away, so pack accordingly. Toilets are 130 m away, which matters on a long session. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Devil Lake is 3.2 km distant. What applies at Schkam Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
