Damp, showery conditions today, with light air out of the S with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Shadow Lake should be near windblown banks where food collects. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter.
