Soft grey light all day today, with dead-still conditions with the barometer flat. Fish at Lomond Lake should hold close to the seam between weed and open water. If you pick one session, make it the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lomond Lake falls in Regional District of Central Kootenay, part of British Columbia. The bank is 765 metres above sea level. This is a pocket water of some 8 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The closest town, Salmo, is 21 km distant. For a city, Spokane is 150 km off. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Across Regional District of Central Kootenay, recorded fish include rainbow trout, sockeye salmon, mountain whitefish and largescale sucker. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Lomond Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
The range across the year is -5°C to 18°C. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Count the season from break-up, usually late March. Climate averages put the opening at about late March and the closing near early December. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Time your trip to Lomond Lake by conditions rather than dates.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. A jetty or pier is mapped about 180 m from here. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Crescent Lake at 1.9 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lomond Lake for certain.
