Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a gentle ripple from the NE and steady pressure. Whatever swims in Junker Lake should be near bays that hold the day's warmth. A tough forecast; the night offers the only real chance. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Bundle up; the fishing will be slow but not impossible.

Look for Junker Lake in the Central Coast Regional District part of British Columbia. It stands 1,111 metres above sea level. About 2.41 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. There is roughly 9.5 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Anahim Lake is the closest place, 47 km off. Then Bella Coola, 67 km, and Bella Bella, 159 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Reported across Central Coast Regional District: Chum salmon, pink salmon, Coho salmon and sockeye salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. At Junker Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Temperature averages peak at 11°C in August and bottom out at -8°C in January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about early May until roughly mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Plan around that when you fish Junker Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Vista Lake, 2.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. For Junker Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
