Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with a working SSW breeze and steady pressure. The fish at Gulatch Lake are likely to sit near the calm side of the wind. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Cariboo Regional District, British Columbia, is where Gulatch Lake sits. The water sits 1,068 metres up. The water covers some 59 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Around 4.1 km of margin, front to back. Nearest town is 108 Mile Ranch, 39 km off. After that come 100 Mile House at 46 km and Williams Lake at 48 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Open biodiversity records for Cariboo Regional District list sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon, bull trout, Coho salmon and longnose sucker. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Gulatch Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Expect July near 15°C and January near -9°C on the long-run figures. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Winter locks it down, and mid April brings it back. Climate averages put the opening at about mid April and the closing near mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. It sets the rhythm of the year at Gulatch Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Hannan Lake, 1.3 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Confirm access to Gulatch Lake locally before you travel.
