Blue sky from bank to bank today, with dead-still conditions and pressure sitting still. Fish at Eureka Lake should hold close to the calm side of the wind. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Look for Eureka Lake in Thompson-Nicola Regional District, British Columbia. The surface lies 1,451 metres up. At roughly 3 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Our Thompson-Nicola Regional District list holds plenty of bigger water. Aberdeen is the closest town at 16 km. Kamloops is the closest city, 20 km away. No border sits close enough to matter.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Thompson-Nicola Regional District include Chinook salmon, sockeye salmon, Coho salmon and rainbow trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Anyone new to Eureka Lake should walk it once before setting up.
The range across the year is -7°C to 13°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Averages place the thaw at late April and the freeze at mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. The season on Eureka Lake follows the weather closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Failing this one, try Connolly Lake, 1.3 km away. None of that is settled for Eureka Lake in what we hold.
