Heavy overcast holding through the day, with an easy breeze from the ESE and the barometer holding steady. Fish at Cotsworth Lake should hold close to inflow corners and shaded margins. The forecast is against you; the night is the least bad option. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Cotsworth Lake is one of the Cariboo Regional District listings for British Columbia. The country here is lake country bush. It measures about 89 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. At about 6.5 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. Nearest place of any size is Quesnel, 84 km away. Vanderhoof is 86 km and Prince George 93 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Cariboo Regional District include sockeye salmon, Chinook salmon, bull trout, Coho salmon and longnose sucker. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Read Cotsworth Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
July runs about 15°C on average, January about -12°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid April and starts locking again about mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. On Cotsworth Lake that shapes the whole year.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Moses Lake at 5.6 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Cotsworth Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
