Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with next to no ripple with a firming glass. Start the search at Bass Bay along banks where bait gets pushed by the flow. Expect the better fishing from morning through afternoon. Give the likely spots time before moving. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Bass Bay is one of the Waukesha County waters in Wisconsin. This is pine and birch country. At about 109 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Around 1.9 miles of margin, front to back. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Wisconsin listings. For supplies, Muskego is 1.3 miles out. Further out sit Franklin (4 miles) and Hales Corners (4.5 miles). A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Flats either side fish on the drop as bait is pushed off them. Oyster and old piling give the only hard structure in sight. Species logged across Waukesha County include common carp, bluegill, brown trout, rainbow trout and rock bass. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. The shape of Bass Bay decides where the fish sit.
Expect July to average close to 71°F, with January the cold end at about 18°F. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early April. Ice clears near early April and comes back about mid December in a typical year. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Bass Bay runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
No public source sets out the position on this bank. Parking sits 0.9 miles out, which makes for a walk with tackle. A picnic area is mapped about half a mile away. There is a toilet block some 0.9 miles out. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Muskego Lake is 1.4 miles off. The position on Bass Bay is worth confirming on the day.
