No direct sun expected today, with light air out of the N and pressure easing off. The productive water at Sawdust Pond will be around the quiet corner out of the wind. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Sawdust Pond lies in Caledonia County, in Vermont. It sits at 1,788 feet above sea level. At roughly 15 acres, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Head to Lyndonville, 14 miles away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Lyndon (15 miles) and Newport (18 miles). A county boundary sits nearby, which can matter for local access rules.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Caledonia County include rainbow trout, brook trout, pumpkinseed and white sucker. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Sawdust Pond the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Temperature averages peak at 64°F in July and bottom out at 12°F in January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Sawdust Pond fishes to that pattern most years.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Bald Hill Pond Access provides a boat ramp about half a mile away. Parking is close: a car park sits half a mile from the bank. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Brown Pond at 0.6 miles is the sensible second choice. For Sawdust Pond, the notice at the access point is the final word.
