Overcast skies today, with a gentle ripple from the E and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lake Nassau along the calm side of the wind. A long productive spell runs night into morning. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lake Nassau lies within the bounds of Harris County, Texas. Around the bank it is scrub and brush. Around 34 acres of surface means several distinct areas to work. Shoreline comes to about 2.4 miles, small enough to learn in a day. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Texas listings. Nassau Bay sits 0.6 miles from here and is the nearest stop. After that come Webster at 1.7 miles and League City at 2 miles. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Work the tide here — moving water feeds, slack water rests. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records collected within a few miles name flathead grey mullet, bluegill, threadfin shad, redspotted sunfish and channel catfish. The records cover the area rather than this water alone. At Lake Nassau the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Expect July near 83°F and January near 53°F on the long-run figures. Cold never becomes a factor on this one. The first and last hours carry the summer; the middle is slow. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lake Nassau. As the season turns, fish follow food rather than temperature alone.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. You can launch from a ramp around half a mile away. For boats, Nassau Bay Yacht Club lies half a mile out. There is a car park half a mile from the bank. A jetty or pier is mapped about half a mile from here. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Pearce Lake is 0.6 miles distant. What applies at Lake Nassau may have changed since it was mapped.
