Bright moon and an empty sky tonight, with a faint ENE drift with the glass slipping lower. Give the shaded margin through bright spells the first hour at Lake Clark. A long productive spell runs night into morning. Make the first hour count and build on it. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

You will find Lake Clark in Ellis County, Texas. The ground round it is open plain. Around 165 acres of surface means several distinct areas to work. The edge runs 2.3 miles or so, easy to work in an afternoon. On our Ellis County list it sits near the top for size. Some 2 miles away sits Ennis, the nearest settlement. For a city, Mesquite is 30 miles off. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. A reservoir gives you a hard edge, a shelf, and not much else. Nearby survey and observation records mention striped bass, white bass, spotted gar and Florida largemouth bass. Records come from public data, not from a stocking programme. Anyone new to Lake Clark should walk it once before setting up.
The warmest month averages 84°F, the coldest about 44°F. Summer heat is the limit here, not winter cold. Late winter and spring fish steadiest here. March through May is the strongest run, with October and November a second stretch. Anyone fishing Lake Clark regularly works to that calendar.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. The car has to stay 0.9 miles away, which shapes how much tackle you bring. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Old Lake, 1.1 miles out. For Lake Clark, the notice at the access point is the final word.
