Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with light air out of the WSW and the barometer on the way down. Jack Lake should fish best around the shallows early and the drop later today. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

In South Carolina, Jack Lake belongs to Marion County. Elevation runs to 13 feet. This is a pocket water of some 4 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is low-lying compared with other South Carolina water we list. Red Hill is the closest place, 3.1 miles off. After that come Marion at 12 miles and Mullins at 13 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish reported in the area, according to open records, include swamp darter, blackbanded sunfish and bluespotted sunfish. Records come from public data, not from a stocking programme. At Jack Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Averages move between 45°F in January and 80°F in July. The surface stays open the year round. Late winter and spring fish steadiest here. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Expect Jack Lake to follow that timing. A grey, mild day is often better than a bright, still one.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Bluegill and other panfish take small jigs or worms under a float near any cover. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Kinney Lake at 0.9 miles is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Jack Lake in what we hold.
