Scattered cloud dimming the moonlight, with an easy breeze from the SSE with pressure climbing. Start the search at Linke Lake along the calm side of the wind. Block out the hours from afternoon into evening. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Linke Lake lies in Rock County, in Nebraska. Beyond the shoreline you have rolling bush. It measures about 76 acres, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The whole outline is near 1.2 miles, and most of it is walkable. Some 24 miles away sits Atkinson, the nearest settlement. Ainsworth is 26 miles and O'Neill 39 miles. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name common carp, brown trout, green sunfish, rock bass and stonecat. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Linke Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Average temperature peaks around 75°F in July and bottoms out near 21°F in January. Cold winters and warm summers give a wide working range. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late March. Averages suggest open water from about late March through to roughly early December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. On Linke Lake that shapes the whole year.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Cameron Lake at 1.5 miles is the sensible second choice. Treat Linke Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
