Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a faint ESE drift and no real change in pressure. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Wagner Lake. A broad window opens from night into morning. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Wagner Lake is a Wright County water, Minnesota side. The water sits 955 feet up. It measures about 110 acres, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Bank access stretches around 2.4 miles in total. It lies lower than most water we list in Minnesota. For supplies, Hanover is 2.6 miles out. Minneapolis is the closest city, 25 miles away. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Reported across Wright County: largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie, yellow perch and common carp. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Anyone new to Wagner Lake should walk it once before setting up.
The range across the year is 11°F to 71°F. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Count the season from break-up, usually early April. Ice usually gives way near early April, and forms again about late November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Wagner Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. The nearest car park we can see is half a mile out, so expect a walk with your gear. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Steele Lake sits 0.9 miles off and takes the overflow. Confirm before you fish Wagner Lake.
