Fresh rain topping the water up today, with a persistent wind from the SE and pressure leaking away. The fish at Saucer Lake are likely to sit near reed fringes and open pockets. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Ride the conditions while they last. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

The Cook County entry here is Saucer Lake, in Minnesota. This is lake country bush country. This is a pocket water of some 22 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Grand Marais lies 27 miles from the water. Neebing is 55 miles and Ely 59 miles. Not far off: Whisker Lake 0.9 miles off, Crab Lake near enough 1.4 miles, Susana Lake 1.4 miles off, Little Mayhew Lake near enough 1.4 miles and Little Gunflint Lake 1.4 miles off. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Species logged across Cook County include white sucker, yellow perch and northern pike. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. The shape of Saucer Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
The year swings from about 4°F in January to roughly 64°F in July. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about mid November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Saucer Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. You can camp about half a mile away, going by the mapping. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Whisker Lake, 0.9 miles away. For Saucer Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
