A closed sky with even light today, with a light chop building from the SSW with pressure climbing. Whatever swims in Rose Lake should be near any hard bottom among the soft. A long productive spell runs night into morning. Make the first hour count and build on it. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Rose Lake falls in Crow Wing County, part of Minnesota. It lies 1,263 feet above sea level. Roughly 52 acres: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The full circuit measures close to 1.4 miles on foot. Supplies mean a trip to Crosby, 2.7 miles off. Aitkin is 13 miles away, with Brainerd at 14 miles. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Fish documented in Crow Wing County include largemouth bass, bluegill, yellow perch, northern pike and pumpkinseed. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. On Rose Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The range across the year is 8°F to 69°F. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The lid usually goes in mid April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Ice clears near mid April and comes back about late November in a typical year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Expect Rose Lake to follow that timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Olander Lake at 0.8 miles is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Rose Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
