Lake Hattie sits within Stevens County in Minnesota. The land about it is mixed forest. This is sizeable water at about 452 acres, and a boat opens up most of it. There is roughly 4.7 miles of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. It ranks high for size among our Stevens County listings. The town to know is Morris, 8.8 miles out. Further out sit Appleton (23 miles) and Ortonville (24 miles). Rules here are straightforward: one county, one set of rules.
The basin has been measured to about 10 feet. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Survey and observation records for Stevens County include common carp, black bullhead and northern pike. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. On Lake Hattie the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Long-term averages put July at about 71°F and January near 9°F. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early April. The season between ice runs from about early April to late November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. At Lake Hattie the season follows that pattern closely.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Clear Lake, 2.1 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lake Hattie as something to verify.
