Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a whisper of wind from the SSW and pressure leaking away. The fish at Eagle Lake are likely to sit near points where shallow meets deep. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

This water sits in Crow Wing County, Minnesota. The country here is pine and birch. This is sizeable water at about 350 acres, and a boat opens up most of it. The shoreline runs about 5.2 miles, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. It is among the larger waters listed here for Crow Wing County. The closest town, Crosslake, is 7.4 miles distant. It is 129 miles to Minneapolis, the nearest city. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
The deepest measured water here is close to 40 feet. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. Held water runs deepest at the wall and shallows back to the inflow. Fish documented in Crow Wing County include largemouth bass, bluegill, yellow perch and northern pike. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. The shape of Eagle Lake decides where the fish sit.
Between January at about 6°F and July at about 68°F, the water has a wide range to work through. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from mid April. Expect the water usable from around mid April until roughly late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. On Eagle Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
We hold no note on access for this one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Butterfield Lake at 1.3 miles is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Eagle Lake in what we hold.
