An even grey lid over the water, with a working N breeze with a softening glass. Activity on Camel Lake should centre on inflow corners and shaded margins. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Cass County in Minnesota is where Camel Lake sits. It stands 1,270 feet above sea level. At 13 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Cass County. Nearest place of any size is Cohasset, 9.1 miles away. Further out sit Grand Rapids (12 miles) and Coleraine (18 miles). Being near a boundary, it pays to know which side you are fishing.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Open biodiversity records for Cass County list largemouth bass, yellow perch, bluegill and walleye. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Camel Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Average temperature peaks around 67°F in July and bottoms out near 5°F in January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about mid April. Open water usually runs from mid April until about late November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Camel Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. If the gate is shut, Little Skunk Lake at 1 mile is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Camel Lake in what we hold.
