A bright day with hardly any cloud, with mild air moving in from the WNW as pressure builds. The productive water at Perch Lake will be around structure within a cast of the bank. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Public occurrence data for Grand Traverse County names rock bass, yellow perch and white sucker. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Perch Lake should walk it once before setting up.

Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. If the gate is shut, Bullhead Lake at 1.4 miles is the nearest alternative.
