Stars out and no cloud tonight, with a mirror surface most of the day and no real change in pressure. Give the seam between weed and open water the first hour at Mead Lake. The strongest window is the middle of the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Mead Lake is a Kent County water, Michigan side. The bank is 761 feet above sea level. About 22 acres of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. Start from Belmont, 3.5 miles down the road. Further out sit Comstock Park (4.2 miles) and Sparta (4.7 miles). Within easy reach: Elk Lake some 0.8 miles off, Little Pine Island Lake 0.9 miles, Mud Lake some 0.9 miles off, Mirror Lake 1.2 miles and Scott Lake some 1.6 miles off. A county boundary sits nearby, which can matter for local access rules.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name bluegill, rock bass, johnny darter and largemouth bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. The shape of Mead Lake decides where the fish sit.
Average temperature peaks around 70°F in July and bottoms out near 22°F in January. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early April. In an average year the thaw lands around early April and the freeze near mid December. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. That shapes the year on Mead Lake.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Elk Lake, 0.8 miles away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Mead Lake in what we hold.
