A closed sky with even light today, with a kind NNW breeze on the water and pressure leaking away. The fish at Hill Lake are likely to sit near bays that hold the day's warmth. Expect the better fishing from night into morning. Give the likely spots time before moving. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Night
The Meriwether County end of Georgia holds Hill Lake. Open plain runs right down to the water. At about 30 acres, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Manchester lies 11 miles from the water. After that come Pine Mountain at 11 miles and Sardis at 14 miles. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Inflow corners move water, and moving water gathers fish. The old creek line under the surface is the feature worth finding. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include blackbanded darter, bluegill and redbreast sunfish. Treat it as evidence of what swims in the area. Hill Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Averages move between 44°F in January and 79°F in July. Summer heat is the limit here, not winter cold. Late winter and spring fish steadiest here. June to September is hot work, so the first and last hours are what count. Expect Hill Lake to follow that timing. Overcast days spread the fishing across more hours.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Should this one be busy, James Lake is 1.2 miles off. Treat Hill Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
