A crisp, open sky after dark, with a consistent blow out of the NE with the glass on the way up. Most of the action on Lake Sue should come off sheltered bays and points. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

In Florida, Lake Sue belongs to Orange County. Elevation runs to 75 feet. Around 144 acres of surface means several distinct areas to work. The full circuit measures close to 1.9 miles on foot. On our Orange County list it sits near the top for size. Winter Park at 1.9 miles is the nearest place to stop. Fairview Shores is 2.6 miles away, with Eatonville at 3 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Nearby survey and observation records mention bluegill, largemouth bass, redbreast sunfish and Florida gar. It reflects what has been logged, which depends on who was looking. Fish Lake Sue to its features, not to its size.
Expect July to average close to 82°F, with January the cold end at about 60°F. There is no cold season worth the name. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to be out. November and March are the quiet, comfortable months to be out. Plan any trip to Lake Sue around it. Warm rain lifts activity; cold rain flattens it.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. A carry of half a mile from the nearest parking is the price of fishing here. A jetty or pier is mapped about 0.9 miles from here. There are toilets mapped about half a mile away. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Lake Chelton at 0.3 miles is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lake Sue are worth checking on the day.
