A clean, cloudless night over the water, with a useful NE wind pushing food about with a settled glass. Whatever swims in Lake Paxton should be near the first drop-off and weed lines. Block out the hours from night into morning. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lake Paxton in the Orange County part of Florida. The coast is 20 miles away. This is a pocket water of some 23 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. For a base, Bithlo sits 3.5 miles out. Further out sit Chuluota (3.8 miles) and Alafaya (4.3 miles). The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Records collected within a few miles name largemouth bass, bluegill, hickory shad, redbreast sunfish and tadpole madtom. Records come from public data, not from a stocking programme. Read Lake Paxton before you fish it and the day goes better.
Expect July near 81°F and January near 59°F on the long-run figures. Wet and dry spells shape the year more than temperature. The cooler months are the comfortable ones to be out. The hot months push the fishing to dawn and dusk. Time your trip to Lake Paxton by conditions rather than dates.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Parking sits half a mile out, which makes for a walk with tackle. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. State or provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lake Tanner at 0.7 miles is the sensible second choice. Check the position at Lake Paxton before loading the car.
